Project Origins
Visualizing Boston’s 1721 Epidemic grew out of The Birth of Boston, an experiment in visualizing historical data at the Massachusetts Historical Society. Using ArcGIS, Chris Parsons, Molly Nebiolo, and Matt Bowser created a spatial representation of records from the Annie Haven Thwing and Samuel Chester Clough collections to plot identified residents in Boston’s 1648 landscape.
